The introduction of the MF 1200 in 1972, represented a unique solution to the problems of a great many farmers. Designed from the outset as a four-wheel drive tractor with all wheels the same size the MF 1200 avoided many of the inherent disadvantages of its more conventional four-wheel drive competitors, that were simply conversions of existing two-wheel drive models.
The pivot steer twin-chassis layout features the 105DIN hp Perkins A6.354 engine and the safety cab on the foward chassis, and the three-point linkage built into the rear unit. Which ensures excellent weight distribution in work, the MF 1200 was endowed with outstanding manoeuvrability, traction and comfort; especially under adverse conditions.
In 1980, with benefit of years of field experience throughout Europe, the MF 1250 was introduced, retaining all of the qualities of its predecessor and incorporating numerous improvements. The power was increased by getting the new Perkins A6.354.4 engine producing 112DIN hp at 2500 rev/min. The transmission had several modifications including the new heavy duty Mark II Multi-Power gearbox. A 28% increase in the linkage lift capacity ensuring that all implements can be operated efficiently.
Some dealerships equipped the MF 1250 with Turbo increasing the power and improving the fuel efficiency.
